What motions don’t need a second?
1) Point of Order – motion to follow the rules
2) Division of the Assembly – When a hand vote or voice vote is too close, a member can ask for a rollcall vote to be taken
3) Point of information – a motion to ask a question about the motion or business on the floor
4) Parliamentary Inquiry – A question about the parliamentary law or organization’s rules as they apply to the business at hand
5) Call for order of the day – a single member can force the group to follow the agenda or members must move with a 2/3 vote to move the agenda item.
